~ new Coburn Place resident
When you donate your gently used toaster to Coburn Place, you truly are making a difference in the life of a domestic violence survivor. I know what you’re thinking – a small kitchen appliance doesn’t have the power to change a life. But it does.
Your toaster along with the bed donated by the Millers, the towels collected by the neighborhood church group and all of the other donated items combine to create a home. A home where peace and comfort overcome violence and terror. A home where a new resident and her caseworker from the shelter where she’s been staying celebrate her brand new beginning with high fives when they thought no one was looking. A home where that new resident sighs with relief and shares “I can’t believe how fast things went from bad to good. I really needed something good right now.”
I’m convinced that one of the most influential minds of the past 2500 years, Aristotle, would agree. After all, he was the one who said, ”The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” It takes a lot of parts to create 35 homes. We need your help to create the whole. Please check our regularly updated wish list to find out what you can donate. Just think what a set of pots and pans could do!
