Get Help

You deserve a safe home.

Abuse happens when one person in a romantic relationship tries to control the other through fear, manipulation, threats or harm. And it isn’t just physical. It can also be emotional, financial, sexual or even spiritual.

In fact, recognizing abuse can be very difficult for the person who is living through it. An abusive partner might try to take away your choices, isolate you from loved ones, or make you feel like everything is your fault.

They may use children or intimidation to keep control. They may also use money to make it difficult to leave.

No matter what someone has told you, abuse is never your fault, and you deserve to feel safe and supported.

How do I get to safety and help right now?

Coburn Place isn’t an emergency shelter, and we aren’t able to offer emergency or crisis support.

If you are in a physically unsafe environment, please call 911. Consider whether you would be safe to stay temporarily with friends or family, or contact one of these local emergency shelters and resources:

Do you only serve women?

No! Coburn Place serves all people impacted by domestic violence in the Greater Indianapolis area, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or religion. You are welcome here, you belong.

Do you have a waiting list I can get on?

We don’t have a waitlist.

Every Wednesday, Coburn Place advocates meet with our partner, Indy Champions, and complete housing match assessments with survivors who are using their emergency services. Survivors will be placed in a housing pool that best connects with available Coburn Place housing choices.

"Coburn Place showed me more love than any other. The last time I felt this love is with my parents. From a 1 to 10 – with 10 being the best – I give Coburn an overall 10+! It's just pure love, compassion, kindness, caring, help. These people here are exceptional!"

"I think the program should be broadened, if it's not directly, to the whole United States. I feel like you guys aren't recognized or talked about enough. A lot of people don't know about this program."
